In just 8 days, Sharon and I fly to Seattle to board the Carnival Miracle for our cruise to Alaska, with senior CD John Heald as our cruise director. We already have a wonderful group of people from our FB group and the Cruise Critic roll call who will be sailing with us, and I’m looking forward to a wonderful time.
This is the first time that either of us has cruised to Alaska, and it will be very different from the Caribbean cruises that we’ve done in the past. Although the average temperatures in Alaska in May are above freezing, we probably won’t have much swimsuit weather.
Of course, as a photographer, I am especially excited about the beautiful scenery, wildlife and other photo opps that are in store. I’ve booked a seaplane excursion in Ketchikan to see the glaciers, and a wildlife quest in Juneau that promises sightings of whales, eagles and other creatures and critters that should be a lot of fun. Thanks to an itinerary change necessitated by technical issues, we’ll be stopping in Sitka – a port that most cruisers don’t get to see – and we’ve planned a trip to see the sea otters there.
As with our last Magic cruise, I’ve put together a graphic for the group, that anyone who wants to can print and put on your door so we’ll be able to more easily identify the cabins of those we’ve gotten to know online beforehand.
The list of names is taken from those who have signed up for the Meet & Greet, where we’ll all get a chance to finally meet in person and which will be followed by a cabin crawl.
I will, of course, do a full review here when I get back.
